Introductory Sake Professional Course

The ISP (Introductory Sake Professional) course is the first step to joining the Sake Sommelier world.

​

Designed to provide an entry into sake education without the commitment of a longer course, the Introductory Sake Professional provides a unique opportunity for enthusiasts & beginners to expand their sake knowledge. The course covers the basics of sake’s origins, serving etiquette and production, as well as an introduction to the differences between various types of sake, and more.

Serving etiquette

Sake tasting

At the end of the course, you will receive a lapel pin and a certificate as Sake Professional certified by the SSA Sake Sommelier Association.

Where: Jijisake in Asakusa, Tokyo
Course hours: half-day (9am~2pm)
Price: 29000 JPY tax incl. (includes sake, studying materials, certificate and lapel pin)

Certified Sake Sommelier Course

The Certified Sake Sommelier is a fantastic way to further expand your sake knowledge and your career in the sake service industry. This 2-day course covers the broader aspects of the sake world, including how to work with sake, how to purchase it, how to introduce it to customers and more. We also delve in

to the science of umami and food pairing principles.

Sake Sommeliers will be eligible to attend Sake Challenges as tasting judges as well as the coveted Sake Sommelier of the Year competition.

 

Suggested prerequisites: ISP or similar sake courses 

Final Exam: 45 minutes with multiple choice questions + blind tasting
